STUDENT PROCEDURE FOR VISITING THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER INDEPENDENTLY DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
All students who visit the media center independently MUST have a daily, yellow pass from a teacher in order to work in the library media center. Also, there must be space available, since classes have first preference to the computers and library space. Students must come prepared to work quietly - we will not allow locker visits from the library media center. Students returning to class from the library must also have the yellow pass signed by an adult in the library. Students will not be permitted to use the library during recess periods or 6th grade cycle study hall periods. Students may visit during their regular classes, flex periods, and elective study hall classes. Thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping the library media center an information literacy classroom where students may work quietly and purposefully.
STUDENTS: BORROWING MATERIALS
- Students may borrow up to three items from the school library at a given time.
- The borrowing period is two weeks.
- Students may renew items once.
- If a student has an overdue item, he/she must return or renew the item before checking out additional ones.
- Overdue notices will be distributed by the homeroom teacher periodically.
- There are no daily late fees or charges.
- Reference, Professional Books, CDs, and DVDs may not be borrowed by students.
- When an item is lost or damaged, the cost of replacement of the item is required.
- Students will be notified of the cost of replacement. Cash or check, made payable to CMS, should be brought to the library so that the item may be replaced in the collection. Borrowing priviledges will then be reinstated for the student.
TEACHERS: BORROWING MATERIALS
Teachers may borrow whatever materials and equipment they require for their classroom use for as long as they are needed. Please do not remove materials and equipment from the library without first checking them out. Reference books are the only materials that are not checked out. Teachers are asked to keep track of borrowed materials, and overdue notices will be sent out periodically as reminders.
