Students Borrowing Materials

Students Borrowing Materials

  • Students may borrow up to three items from the Media Center at a given time.
    • The borrowing period is two weeks.
    • Students may renew items for an additional two weeks if there is no ‘Hold’ on the title
  • Overdues
    • If a student has overdue items or fees
          • they must return/renew the item and/or pay any fees before checking out additional materials.
          • they will not have access to the Media Center computers during recess and Flex.
    • Overdue emails are automatically system generated the day after the due date and written notices are also distributed by the homeroom teacher periodically.
  • Students may place a ‘Hold’ on a title if is not available. Forms are in the Media Center.
  • Lost or Damage Costs
    • If an item is lost, the full cost of replacement of the item is required.
    • If an item is damaged, the cost will be based on the extent of the damage. The full cost of the item may be possible. Therefore it is advisable for students to check books for damages and notify the Media Center staff BEFORE checking them out.
    • Students will be notified of the cost of replacement.  Cash or check, made payable to CMS, should be brought to the Media Center so that the item may be replaced in the collection.  Borrowing privileges will then be reinstated for the student.
  • Reference, Professional Books, CDs, and DVDs may not be borrowed by students.
